Gear Selection

How much more driveability and gas mileage would be lost if you were to upgrade from a set of 3.73 gears to 4.10 gears on a blown 01 T/A?

Re: Gear Selection

When going with a blower you want to go the other way on gears not more, as this will bring on even more traction problems.

Re: Gear Selection

Definite agreement with the above post. You don't mention if you have an M6 or an A4. But most M6 blower cars do well with 3.42's or 3.73's at most and A4's with 3.23-3.42 depending on the converter.

Re: Gear Selection

i would just stick with the 3:73's...4:10's your gonna lose gas mileage and lose alot of traction

Re: Gear Selection

I had 4.10's when i first got my car and traction was a PITA. My gas mileage was suffering also, i think i was getting about 15mpg. When i switched to 3.73's i stopped having such a traction issue and my mpg went up to 17. Although you'd have rediculous traction issues giving that yours is blown. I'd stick to what you have. Just my .02
