Flywheel weight, stock vs steel...

So I looked up and found that the stock factory GM iron flywheel weighs 20 lbs (http://www.lt1engine.com/tech/camaro...f-body-weight/)

I just ordered a steel fly wheel from SPEC, and found it weighs 26 lbs!

I was kind of surprised that steel actually out weighs iron. Does this sound strange to anyone else? Or is this accurate?

Should I expect to loose any HP from this heavier flywheel? Or will it not really equate to less HP just easier ability to launch?

You don't lose HP but it will take a bit more time for the engine to accelerate as it has to turn a heavier flywheel. A way to look at it is the flywheel stores energy; some people perfer a heavier flywheel as the engine is less likely to bog when the clutch is released quickly during your initial launch (drag racing). Road racers perfer to go with a lighter setup as "launch" isn't involved with road racing.

So it will equal a slower accelerating car? Or is it really for revving in nuetral?
