Do you have an LT1 or an LS1? This mod is only done on the LS1 cars. It will not do anything on your car. You need to have your tranny looked at before you damage anything more.

the mod is for Ls1 cars...
if you have difficulties getting into 3rd gear you may have an internal problem, possibly have a loose shifter.........

See, this is news too me, when i had ask about this awhile back (forgot to save the thread), i wasn't told anything about it only working on an LS1, its not that it doesn't shift good, just under higher RPMs, running through the gears at the track, it will sometimes just STOP in "N" when trying to shift fast too 3rd., sometimes its fine, i was told all it needed was the "Drill mod". The shifter is a B&M shorty, it feels tight, i'll look & see if anything is loose.

If you have problems shifting into 3rd, you probably have a bent 3-4 shift fork. It's a common problem with these trannies. Have it looked at. And yes, the drill mod is only for the LS1 hydraulics.

Is this something i can do myself, does the tranny need to come apart? Whats all involved?

Where can i find Pix of the shift forks?

Yes it has to come apart, but you can do it yourself with the right tools.

It could be a bent fork (upgrade to a steel 3-4 fork and put bronze pads on it and the 1-2 fork). It could also be the cheap stamped steel keys in the 3-4 slider. It is very common for a t56 to chew tham up and make it hard to go into gear. Get a new 3-4 slider, new blocker rings and a set of billit keys to put in the new 3-4 slider.

Here are a couple links:

slider

billit slider keys

3-4 steel fork

bronze pads

carbon blocker ring kit

You will need a quality set of knurled snap ring pliers, a custom long arm two jaw puller and a press.

Here is a link to the type of snap ring plier: knurled snap ring plier

Yeah, thats what i was talking about, if i remember, you had to drill out the line itself, i heard it really helped with the 2-3 shift.
