Wow after re-reading what I am writing above, I think I am making him out to be a saint or something...
Oh well, all I am saying is the guy helps us out the least we can do is help him out...
Re: CPT rocks!!
I think that by answering questions, & solving problems, that I can offer much more to everybody here than spending "X" amount on advertising. I agree with Frank & others on this.

This is why I have you on my list of referals when people are looking for good info from this section.
BTW, the rate this board is going they may ask you to change your name since it is advertising your company and you are not a paying vender...
Just kidding - I hope...
Re: CPT rocks!!
This thread was reported to me as "advertising". I read through it and have to say that I don't see it as advertising. The thing which is borderline is the posting and re-posting of links to a vendors web site. However, I will ask other mods to look and see what they think.
In general though, here is my understanding wrt advertising. The board costs money and time to run and maintain. Jason and Chris defray the cost by allowing people to advertise and charging them for it. I assume they make some profit, which is absolutely fine with me. This is a great place to come and share F-body knowledge and experience and I have no problem "paying" for the privilege by having some banners appear at the top of the page. If I am not interested, I ignore them. To be fair to those who support the site by paying to advertise, there is a policy that prevents people who don't pay from advertising. Giving advice is not advertising, even when it's clear from the context that the poster is in the business. However, there is a line which is sometimes crossed where advertising is presented in the guise of advice. It's hard to define, but like Justice Earl Warren said about ****, I (think) I know it when I see it.
Bottom line: I hope that you guys who know this stuff continue to post advice but ask you to refrain from advertising unless you want to pay for the privilege.

Re: CPT rocks!!
Guys, we don't appreciate the remarks.
Giving tech advice here is what the site is all about. If you are here to give advice and share information and knowledge, that's great and well appreciated but it is not fair to us or ther other paying advertisers to lace it with promotion and trying to drum up business.
Giving "free advice" doesn't mean "free advertising" in return. There are thousands who do it here every day and don't expect anything it return. The advice given might be great, but we can't pay our bills using "free advice". It just doesn't work that way. With no advertising funds, there is no site. With no site, there are no site members to help for free and also no members for vendors to make money from. We need to cover our asses as well. It has always been this way in the 10 years that we have been running this site. This is nothing new.
I can't afford to pay the rate for a rebuilt transmission, so that doesn't mean I should get it for free. Our advertising rates are very fair compared to other advertising. We only ask for what we need to get by.
Frank: I know where you are coming from, and I hope you also see where I am. Give me an e-mail, maybe we can help each other out.
1SlowFormula/others: Sorry, but that is the way it is. Again, we really don't appreciate the remarks and you may want to try putting yourselves in our shoes.
