Cover on Bell Housing

Cover on Bell Housing
I bought my '97 Z28 M6 last August and now that the weather is getting warmer I can crawl under it to check some things out. I was installing a skip shift adapter and noticed I can see my flywheel ring gear. Is there supposed to be a plate to cover the front of the bell housing? It seem to me there should be - just to keep crap out of the clutch area.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
I'm just getting started on this project - - - so probably more questions to come.

Re: Cover on Bell Housing
Yes, there's a sheet metal cover for the lower 1/2 of the bell housing. It has a hole for the starter nose. Check the "Parts For Sale" forum, or post on "Parts Wanted".

Re: Cover on Bell Housing
I checked my garage - I bought a spare used T56 about 10 year ago, along with the bell housing, clutch hydraulics, a McLeod Street Twin, the cross-member, etc. I've parted out most of it, and I couldn't remember if I included the cover plate when I sold the bell housing. No luck though.
This isn't a great pic, but the cover is laying on the bell housing.
