Chatter problem

I have a bad chatter when I let off the clutch in 1st/reverse and If I take off in 2nd. It only does it when letting off the clutch. I replaced the clutch/pilot bearing and had the flywheel resurfaced. It still does it just like before. What can be wrong? The old pilot bearing hole is about .160 bigger then the input shaft

Can the input shaft bearings be bad because of so much of space between them?
The motor/trans mounts are good and all the bolts are tight. the input shaft isnt worn.
Any ideas??

Re: Chatter problem

Was there any movement in the input shaft when u took the trans out? I had a friend put a new clutch and pressure plate in his T56 and forgot to install the pilot bearing. He then drove the car for months and his transmission ended up having to be rebuilt! Hope yours is OK.

Re: Chatter problem

I grabed it and tried to shake it to see if there was odd movement but it didnt have any.
If the input shaft was bent or messed up in anyway wouldnt the front trans seal be worn to where trans fluid leaked out of it?
