Changing Trans Fluid.

Ok, I did a search and didnt quite find what i was looking for, thus the reason for the new thread.

For the past 3 days, i've noticed spots in the driveway where i park. Last night, i got under the car, and found that almost every single bolt on the trans pan unscrewed itself about 1/5th to 1/4th off. Now the Trans was rebuilt about 3k miles ago by a shop that works on mostly muscle cars. Now heres where I have two questions.

1: Are the bolts suppost to come undone like this or were they not tightened to specs?

Now, when i tightened the bolts up, the gasket started to squeeze out. One part even started to rip. Now i was going to drop the pan and put in a new gasket and all.

2: Since im putting on a new gasket, should i go ahead and change the filter and seal? I'm not flushing the trans out, but i also wanted to know if it would be safe to fill it back up with Royal Purple Trans Fluid or should i just put in a house brand. Another thing, since I'm not flushing it, how much fluid do you think it would take? My guess was 3 quarts maybe? I dont want to over fill it and have to get another rebuild .

Thanks guys,
Matt
