Question Swaping out a rear end with 2.73s to one with 3.42s

Im going to buy a rear end of a 96 ws6 that has 3.42 gears in it. Mine has 2.73s i know that because i checked the code in the glove compartment.

My question is will it be direct fit? Its from a 96 ws6 and my car is a 95z

Its a full rear end including the discs

Thanks

I'd think so but wait for others to chime in to be sure. Something else to consider is whether both cars have traction control/no traction control. I replaced mine with a M6 non-tcs rear from another LS1 car to get rid of my 2.73's - neither had traction control and was plug and play except for the speedo recal.

Yes it will fit and work.. Do you know if yours is a 4 channel or 3 channel ABS.. Look and the new rear end.. Look on the pumpkin and see if there is a plug in on the top.. If not look on each of the caliper brackets for a plug..

If the plug is on the pumpkin its 3 channel.
If there on the caliper brackets its 4 channel.

THen compare to you rear end in the car now.. If there not the same the rear will still work. .You just wont have ABS anymore..

Plug what kind.. I took pics maybe this will help you tell me what it is..

This is of the differential on the car right now .

This is of the one I bought

It looks like they both have some type of connection on top..

Does that mean its a 3 channel?

Thanks
