Can I do this on my LT1?
Can I do this on my LT1?
If I take off the shifter on my LT1 Tranny (T-56) then can't I put the tranny fluid in that way instead of the pump which is so damn frustrating? I know how much so measuring isn't a prob. THanks
Re: Can I do this on my LT1?
Yes you can add you fluid through the shifter mounting hole but then you'll need to remove the shifter boot, shifter, scrap off the old RTV and apply new. Seems like it would be easier to pump the fluid.

Yeah I knew that stuff but thanks for the info. Just making sure the shifter is a safe place to add. I just installed a new clutch after it blew off my new engine. Clutch separated (center and outside pieces)

Dude, jack up the car, take off drain plug and drain.
Then place plug back in. Get an ample piece of garden hose that you don;t want to use again other than for this purpose - cut to your desired length, pop the hood of the car and drop one end down in there. Get underneath and stick the into the fill plug of the tranny.
Get out let car back down to ground level, stand by the engine bay, grab the other end of the hose, use a nice funnel with an end small enough to fit into the end of the hose - pour in the correct amount of tranny fluid.
Takes no time at all.
