Ford 9" question

Is their a differential that will hold up to a 10 sec car (3600lb) besides a spool or Detroit locker? What are you guys using?

Re: Ford 9" question

A Moroso Brute Strength will do that but why wouldn't you want at least a locker?

Re: Ford 9" question

I have a Det. locker now and don't like it. When I hit the throttle the car "wags" slightly to the left, but when racing the thing is down right dangerous! The car is uncontrollable on both shifts (auto) on slicks it kicks the car sideways. Does anyone have experience with the Det. Trutrac, they told me Some stangs are going nines with it.
Thanks, Steve

Re: Ford 9" question

I hear ya on the locker. I got rid of mine and run a spool now. As long as I have hard street tires on the back, it's not that bad. I did have to go to solid LCA's which are a little brutal. Hey, I lived in the Lake Geneva area a while back. Pretty area.

The True-trac differential is good for 700 hp and is used in Nascar road races.

Re: Ford 9" question

I just installed a Detroit true trac and am in the proces of breaking in the new gears. I did have a spool and hated it on the street, it was great at the track but my less than 4 trips to the track a year didn't justify keeping it. So far the trutrac seem nice, it is very quiet around corners and really havn't been able to put it to the test yet at WOT.
