Bigger tires, gear change?

I put 285/35/18's on, i use to have the stock 245/50/16's. Now my question is, how much did my gear go down? I have an auto with 3.23's.

Thanks.

Don't worry about it. Going from a 245/50-16 (25.65") to a 285/35-18 (25.85") would make your 3.23's feel like 3.20's.

The larger wheel combo probably weighs quite a bit more (and placing the weight of the rim farther out makes it harder to turn as well). The gears should help, but you'll just be getting back performance that you already had with the old wheels. They may look nice, but larger rims aren't good for straight line performance. W/ a 26" tire, the consensus is 3.73s for autos and 4.10s w/ 6 spd. I've got 3.73s and it's plenty of gear for the street.

Oh i know that big rims arent for straight line performance, i just couldnt stand the salad shooters anymore. I think that if i do go 4.10's it will wake the car up sooo much.
