Axle stuck, won't pull out...

A few months ago, my Pass side axle seal started leaking. Not having time to mess with it, I took it to a shop. The mechanic informed me they couldn't remove the axle because it's bent and that the rear is shot. Fortunately, they were able to bolt everything up and I was able to get the car home (although after sitting overnight I had a quart of Diff. oil on the garage floor ). So, before scrapping the 10 bolt I figured I would try to fix it. Currently, caliper/rotor is off, removed cross-pin bolt and the pin, then pushed axle in to remove the C-clip. Went to pull axle and....it gets stuck about 2 inches out. I can still turn it but it won't pull out. Any suggestions??? Thanks..

thanks for the replies... Someone told me to go to Autozone and rent an axle puller--would that be the same as a slide hammer?

It is a big slide hammer with a foot on it to attach to the lug studs. You may have some twisted splines.

Junkyard method: attach a chain or stiff rope to a cement block and to the wheel flange of the axle. Use the weight of the block as your slide hammer to give it the extra thump you need to get it free.
