auto trans problem

auto trans problem

About to get my moms 95 z28 convertible, has auto trans but reverse doesn't work. Just wondering if anyone might know if its simple fix or major

That is a broken hardpart in the tranny. I think it is the reaction sun shell

Which means what exactly? Expensive fix?

If paying for the repair yeah as the tranny has to come out and be largely disassembled.

I think there are some other possible causes but this is the most likely.

Does it still have all forward gears? A broken sun shell will cause no reverse, 2nd and 4th. If it has everything forward, it's most likely the reverse input clutches or low reverse clutches. Does it still have manual low?
