another v6 to v8 swap
another v6 to v8 swap
Hello, this is my first post. I've aquired a 94 vette lt1 and 4l60e and am going to attempt to put it in my 95 3.4 camaro. I pretty much know everything that I have to do to make this work, but I've been told that the vette trans absolutely will not work due to mounting issues. I've also been told by a different source that I can change out the tail housing to a camaro one and that this will solve my problem for mounting the trans. I guess my question is where is that camaro trans. mount located, on the tail housing or not? I already have a 94 z28 pcm and plan on using 94 harness which should work out. Aside from this question, if anyone has any other useful info or has gone down this road before, feel free to post.
Dude, I know what you're talking about, but you don't understand. I've had this car since I was 19, I'm now 26. I bought it because I couldn't afford insurance on a z28 and since I have had the car I have had a custom yellow paint job done on it, shaved handles and hatch keylock, custom yellow and graphite interior, aftermarket front bumper and hood, numerous carbon fiber bits and pieces, and tons of other appearance mods. For that matter, I know it's going to be expensive and a major pain in the *** to do this swap, but no more expensive than me buying a new z28 and completely upgrading all of the other things that I've had done on my base model. See where I'm coming from? I've already done my homework on the swap and know what I have to have, I just needed to know where the tranny mount on a camaro z28 is. I was thinking about it today and I forgot that I have a repair manual at my disposal which will have a photo of the location so I should be alright. However, if anyone reading this post has done a similiar swap and has helpful tips or info- much appretiated.

i still recommend buying a z, but if not, GL man

still looking for some answers, so anyone reading this thread that has info for me please reply. The donor tranny I have is out of a 94 vette (no tranny mounts, apparently it's a free-floating trans in the vette) I know that camaro tranny mount bolts up to the tranny cross member, what I don't know is where the tranny mount bolts up to the transmission and if the vette transmission is tapped for a camaro mount ( I highly doubt it, that would be to easy). If camaro trans mount bolts to the tail housing, is it possible for me to just change the vette 4l60e tail housing to a camaro housing.
If the camaro 4l60e trans mount bolts up to the trans on a different location other than the tail housing, has anyone ever fabricated a mount for a vette 4l60e application to a camaro? This is pretty much the last piece of info I need to find out if I can move forward with this swap so please help me!!!!
thanks a million

i would recommend selling the vette stuff because it commands a good price. there is not much difference in power. i would then buy a complete wrecked car and do your swap that way you will have everything. vette stuff go for more than camaro stuff any day. save the headache and buy complete
