Aluminum drivedhafts--which one's are good?

I just picked up a 1995 Z28. The drivetrain is all stock and the car suffers from the dreaded driveshaft vibration. I want to install an aluminum driveshaft, but there are so many to choose from I don't know which one to buy (Lingenfelter, factory 1LE, Inland Empire, TPIS, LG, etc.)

Someone I work with has a brand new Inland Empire aluminum shaft that will fit my car, but I've never heard any feedback about their products--are they any good? The only mods the car has is an SLP Level 1 suspension and 17 x 9 ZRI wheels with BFGoodrich g-force T/A KD tires. The drivetrain is all stock (LT1, M6 trans) and the car has 17,000 miles on it. What do you recommend?

Depends on how much they're asking for the Inland Empire shaft. I believe the 1LE shafts go for around $150 or so in the for sale section. Don't make the mistake of getting an LS1 shaft. Especially since your manual.

My lingenfelter vibrates around 80mph, not as bad as the stocker but it still does.

I guess do you want aftermarket or stock? what are your goals with the car as well?

I'd check out Denny's Driveshaft if you want a good aftermarket unit. Steel or Aluminum; he build some of the best driveshafts around. I can personally vouch for that, I fought a vibeshaft issue for 2 seasons, swapped out to a Denny's Nitrous Ready and have not had any issues since, she's smooth as glass well past 140 mph...

I broke a 1LE shaft in half on the dyno at 400rwhp/430rwtq....Look at LPE's 3.5 because they periodically go on sale. I'm running a 3" steel from A1 in Baltimore with HD u-joints, etc...The shaft FBC uses in their 9 second cars...but I may end up with an LPE to shed a little reciprocating weight...

I have the LPE and like it; however, I haven't really "put it to the test" per se. Speed_demon24, would you happen to have a polyurethane transmission mount? Because I do and I still have a little vibration at higher speeds; I think it's normal though IMHO.

Re: Aluminum drivedhafts--which one's are good?

I don't care if the driveshaft is stock or aftermarket. My goal is SCCA Solo 1 and Solo II (autocrossing). Powertrain wise, the engine will be modified to produce around 350 hp and 3.73 or 4.10 gears will be installed. The car will see some street use, too. I'm not a drag racer--I prefer cars that go, turn, and stop equally well. That's not to say I don't mind taking the car down the strip occasionally, but my primary focus will be road racing type events.

What I'm looking for is a driveshaft that will reduce rotating mass, eliminate the vibration problem of the factory piece, and last a very long time with the way I plan to use the vehicle.

It's a GM tranny mount....

I just put in the LPE and put it to the test last week. 1.5 60' without problem. I'm happy with it.
