A4 to Muncie swap?

Has anybody done this or seen it done before? Just wondering if I could swap my 94'z, A4 to a Muncie 4sp....Any fabrication parts that i would need, besides the crossmember, etc?? The thought has just "passed' my mind, cosidering you could "bang" gears in these old' style trannies all day long, they will hold.. Any thoughts?

the coolness factor would definately be there, cuz it would be like a throwback to the 1st and 2nd gen cars
however i've never heard of anyone doing it (thats not saying much tho) i think its very inpractical, T56 would be the way to go other then the coolness factor IMO

Steve

not to mention i think the whole clutch assembly is different

IMO, T56 is much better transmission. With more first gear it's also quicker.

If you want the "kool" factor, swap in a T56 and put a 4-speed shift ball on it with an old Hurst stick adapted to the shifter. When you are "demonstrating" the car to friends or enemies only use 1-4. Just tell them it's a 2.20 Rock Crusher.
