9" questions

Earlier this week my ten bolt started whining, I'm going to limp it and baby it as long as I can. My car is totally stock and my plan is to build the tranny and rearend up before I really do any performance upgrades - that said, what's a reasonable ammount to pay for a 9"? My roommate is a manager at a shop so I can get the labor done for cheap, but the actual part I'm on my own for.

How far do you plan to go with the HP? The 9-inch may be overkill, with added weight, offset pinion shaft (lateral and vertical) and excessive power loss. For lower HP levels, a 12-bolt might be advantageous.
