Re: 4l80e

Do you mind if I ask why you feel you need the 4l80e? I know guys running faster then you, and with more mods that are using a properly rebuilt 4l60e. Sorry I am not trying to make light of your situation at all, just wondering. Besides you would have to get rid of the converter you already have...

Unless you absolutly feel you need the 80e you might want to look into good 60e rebuilds. I went with Frank at CPT for mine and he has a lot of guys running fast cars. check it out in my sig.

Re: 4l80e

Most of those I've seen that have done a 4L80E swap have lost 2-3 tenths in the quarter. The '80E is much heavier, and it takes way more HP to turn.

A PROPERLY built 4L60E will survive very well in your car.

Frank hooked me up, I got it on a discout he was running at the time similar to the one he is running now, for another board that he sponsors. All said and done for less then $1000 for the rebuild, but I then spent more on the converter then I did on the tranny almost... So my total job costs were about 18-1900, for the CPT race rebuild and Vig 3500 converter plus all the misc stuff like fluid and that sort of thing. Either way you have the converter already so it should be maybe a little over $1100 or so for you, unless you are close enough to deliver and pick it up, like I was .

Re: 4l80e

th-400 and 4l80e share the same gear ratios 1-3rd gears. With that being said....switching to a th-400 cost me no time in the 1/4...i'll soon tell you the difference with the 4l80e as i am going to run that to get o/d back
