4L60E swap to 700R4
4L60E swap to 700R4
Hello everyone.I'm new to this...I've got an 94 Z28 with the 4L60E.The trans went bad and i was wondering what excactly would it take to swap it for an 700R4?As far as wiring and computer set-up would go?As from what i've heard and read its a direct bolt in.Any help would be greatly appreciated...Thanks
A 4L60E is basically an electronically controlled 700R4. You would not gain any real advantage from a 700R4 and you would have to add linkage for kickdown and deal with any other complications.
You'd have to find a '93 throttle body, because you'll need a pivot for a TV cable, you'll need a '93 TV cable, and bracket. You'll need a suitable governor. If your car has stock gearing, a '93 governor for that ratio should work. You'll have to find a way to wire up the electrical for the lock-up function.
Let's start with...Why are you considering this swap?

I would have to ask the same question, The 700r4 is not stronger than the 60e They are essentially the same unit ones hydraulically controlled and the other is electronically controlled and I would prefer the ladder for tunability reasons
Thats what I was thinking.
Well the Fact is there no advantage to be had with this swap . Its not a difficult swap byany means. You would have to as mentioned set up a place on the throttle body for a TV cable to hook up other than that its pretty straight forward, You would have to setup work out something for lockup to work. But If your thinking better performance or durability there is no gain , In fact its a step backwards IMO
