4L60E Problems

Well lately ive been having some problems and im hoping some of you can shed some light on this topic. My 3rd gear is just plain simply lousy. Its lazy going into 3rd and when on the highway in od and you mat it the rpms go way up probubly to the point of hitting the rev limiter if its hard accel. When manual shifting it a takes second or two for it to gradually shift into 3rd as the 1-2 shift is crisp. Its not a huge problem as i dont overly run my car hard but in the future i would like to know whats wrong with my transmission.

Any ideas folks?

Thanks,
Matt

Matt,
It sounds like your 3-4 clutches might be on their way out. The 3-4's are a common weak area in stock (and even some lesser rebuilt) 4L60E's.
What condition is your fluid in? Is it dark? Brown? Black? Does it smell burnt?
