We've had them last more than a full season running between 10.4 and 9.7. 60 ft. times were in the high 1.3's. This car also saw ALOT of street driving.
Yes, I can build a 700/4L60E to take just as much abuse and last as long as a Th350.

All you're gonna get on this site is a bunch of biased opinions because they can make money off it. For what you pay for one of those "properly built" 60-E's you can rebuild a fully built th350 2-3 times over. You know what Frank's, Danny's and Russ's cars run, so you know that any claims to a TH350 being weak is bull.

a th350 is a 4l60-e without overdrive...so why cant they be the same streingth, they use the same parts....

and im shooting for having my new project running mid next year and seeing if i can get one of franks a4's in the 8's + DAILY DRIVING IT

meanwhile my toy is measely running 10.0's and seeting about 250 street miles a week....
cutting 1.4x short time and weighing about 3300 raceweight (with franks 4l60-e) stock 10 bolt and stock bottom end

that is awesome performance #s for sure. but I dont think any parts interchange between a TH350 and L60E. Im pretty sure where your getting confused is, the 4L60E/700r4 trans is DESIGNED after the th350. not the same trans, with an added gear. much like the th400/4L80E.
and there is no question you can have a bad *** th350 built for less then it takes to get an equally strong (if its possible ??) 4L60E but its a big trade off IF you street drive the car. so if its 10's or slower, why not spend a little more on the overdrive tranny, and make your money back in fuel mileage savings.

That's funny.....you guys are talking about 500-600hp 10 sec, V8 cars and you're worrying about gas mileage? Run whatever tranny you want for all I care, but honestly, a couple hundred RPM increase isn't going to kill your street driving.

no, its more like 700rpm. my lockup convertor drops 250rpm by itself, the overdive is alot bigger difference but cant remember. might be around 4-500rpm if I remember right. way quieter inside too, and if you drive alot, or are on the highway alot, it will def. have an effect on the life cycle of the engine. plus the first gear of a a4 is awesome compared to an A3.

not really worried about gas mileage here...more about bearing wear and tranny heat...which will both come with higher rpm continuous wear...and COMFORTABILITY...which is nice in a daily driver....

o yea forgot i can run 90 mph down the freeway at 2300rpm...that nice too...

well the motor pass was months ago before a few changes it should run 11.8-9s on motor now but i havnt made a motor pass in 3 months, but is a hsw 200shot but if you compare it to other kits it more like a 210 shot. I have the race from another angle i beat the ls1 by 4 cars.

A street car without OD, especially if it has a high stall converter SUCKS. At least that's my opinion. The ONLY way I'd run a 3-speed auto again is to add a GV OD. Talk about $$$ (and weight)!!!
