just got my 3.73 for my a4 2.73 95 camaro will i need to have pcm changed or will it be ok for awile. im going to do oher mods and want to wait till then

 

you need to get you speedo adjusted, its too much of a change in gear ratio and your speedo will be way off, plus i think it will just add more miles to your car then your really driving. i recomend www.madz28.com

But what ever you do, dont buy a hypertech programmer, they are worthless, just get your computer done by madz28.com and you'll love it.

i did the same thing 94z a4 with 3:73 and my speedo is off like almost 10mph now, i also will have that corrected when ion does my tune

 

I went from 2.73s to 3.42s and the difference was CONSIDERABLY more than that.

The car read like 100 MPH at 70. It was pretty bad. The car was shifting all screwy too, WAY too early cause it thought it was going faster than it really was.

 

stock my car had 2.73 gears,,, took rear diff cover off and found out previous owner swapped in 3.73's.
My speedo is off like 25-30 mphs,,, very frustrating. From the research I've done on here and the web I need to have my pcm adjusted to the 3.73 gears....Where can I get that done. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
1994 Z28 auto, 5.7 LT1 47k miles,, love this car but I am half tempted to put the stock gears back in it.

 

Your speedo is reading 36.6% higher than actual speed, and your odometer is adding 1,355 miles for every actual 1,000 miles you drive. Shift points are probably totally screwed up.

If you can find a used 1994 Hypertech Power Programmer, and you are sure the previous owner has reset his PCM to stock, it's useful for things like rear axle ratio, tire diameter, fan on/off temps, A4 shift programming, rev limiter, top speed limiter. It is overpriced new (if they even make them any more) and the "power program" is useless.

 

How in the heck is it shifting correctly with that gear change?

 

Yeah. Shift points should be way early. Definitely not good for a 4L60E.
