3.23's to 3.42's?

i have a 94Z A4 i was wondering if you guys think i should jump to 3.42's instead of 3.73's. see cause i don't really want to spend a fortune on 3.73's. i'm kinda broke. i can get some 3.42's real cheap for about 50 bucks locally off of an M6 car. and i know they will last a long time cause they are OEM GM. what do you guys think.

In my opinion, just save up and get some 3.73s. Unless your doing the install yourself and saving the labor cost.

I had a 95 Auto and had gone to 3:42, it was alot better and very noticable difference. If your looking for a good all rounder the 3:42 is better especially highway but if your looking for good E.T times then 3:73 is the better choice with some good tires, just stick with the 3:42 i bummed one off a buddy of mine off an SS so i know what you mean about it being cheap. Now i drive a 6speed with 4:10 gears.

If you have 3.23 now 3.42 isn't worth making the change IMO. I'd do 3.73. You can look at the RPM differences at www.f-body.org/gears/
