273 to 323 gears

ok i learned since my car doesn't have the 1st gear in my shifter that it has 273 gears and i found a T/A that should have 323 gears...so i was wondering if i did a swap would i notice a big difference in the cars speed and power?

Not alot..... A little bit quicker off the line... I would suggest 3.42s for a daily driver...

This is an automatic??

Check the glove box of the TA... Codes for rearend..
GU2 = 2.73
GU5 = 3.23
GU6 = 3.42

For an auto, daily driver, I suggest 3.42.... If a weekend warrior, then 3.73.. I use 3.42, because is less wear on the engine, trans, rearend, etc. at highway speeds...

You can cut the plastic stop off at the shifter to get into 1st gear. If you have not already. I cut mine off with a hack saw, it took 30 seconds.

I heard 93-94 F bodys had the 1st gear lock out, for some reason. Like noise or?

I would wait and find a 3.42 rear. I did the swap 2.73 to 3.42 when my car was an auto. Perfect for a DD.
