Question 2.73's to 3.23's

I have a rear end in my garage that a friend of mine gave me. It's a 3.23 rear. I am currently running with 2.73's. Do you think it would be a waste of time to put the 3.23 rear on? And please dont someone reply with"get 3.73's or 4.10's. I got the rear end for FREE. I just want my car to get going from a stop a little better. With the 2.73's it takes forever to get going. I dont drag race or anything serious.

Do it, if you have the time and know how. That's a nice jump from 2.73s.

Sure why not, it's free and a nice jump from 2.73's.

Should only take you an afternoon to put it in depending on your skill level, maybe less.

if you don't drag race or othwerwise, why not keep the 273's in there, especially with gas the way it is. The pedal feel is not that much different between the two gears when you're just doing normal driving.. in my opinion... and i've had both.

I would definitly go with the 3:23 gears, when i would race with my 6Speed 01 SS i would always lose to a 3:23 equiped Z or SS auto all the time when i would shift instead of jumping ahead of them i would fall behind not so with the 2:73 gears i would pull easily. So it will be a nice difference, ive had 3 camaro's and have tried many different options past experience and my opinion you should definitly go to 3:23's. Not to mention youll stay in your powerband longer and get to it quicker car will get off the line better.

3.23's will make the car feel like you added 18% more torque at the rear wheels, at least off the line. You will notice it.

Thanks for the replies. Ive done a few rear end swaps before. It wasnt the easiest thing to do. Alot of rusted bolts and bloody knuckles. I just wasnt sure if it was worth it. Thanks.

dang, how much will 3.73's feel like?

If I was not racing there is no reason to get any lower gears. IMO
