10 bolt and 12 bolt

10 bolt and 12 bolt

i was wondering what the difference between a 12 and 10 bolt besides the number of bolts on the pumpkin. cuz i have a moroso 12 bolt with a 33 spline. what does the 33 spline mean? thanks for the info

A 10-bolt (at least the F-Body version) uses a 7.5/7.625" ring gear. A 12-bolt uses an 8.875" ring gear. Hence, its much stronger.

The axles are "splined" to the side gears in the carrier, or to the spool, and the number of splines relates to the strength of the axles/gears.

i'm also runnin 430 gears...should i switch to 4:11's or is it not worth it?

33 spline is strong enough for anything you have

gearing depends on your car. you wanna be 200rpm past you peak power in 4th when you cross the finish line
