Tire advice

I have a 1997 pontiac Transam 6 spd. THe modifications are in the sig but im going to list them agian incase its not updated.

4.11 gears
T/A performance rear end cover
solid pinion spacer
Bearing caps stud kit
Pacescetter Longtube headers
3'' corsa Catback
3'' cutout
spec stage II clutch
160 degree thermostat
PCM Forless tuning
Trickflow intake elbow
SLP linelock

I was wondering if i should keep practicing with my good ol Cooper cobra street tires or if i should invest in rims and drag radials? or a high performance street tire such as fuzions on a different rim or somthing because i have no traction whatsoever. just looking for some advice about tire options.

Lightweight rims and P275/50R15

The taller sidewall of the 15 inch tire will help at the launch. You have 411 gearing. They will spin easily so you should have a tire to compensate. Standard ET Streets, even BFG's will probably work too, on a decently prepperd track.

Everybody has preferences, but disconnecting the front sway bar and some shocks that can be loosened up for track usage would be a good way to start. You may need to add an airbag later, or add subframe connectors later, but until you hook up you won't know.

I also very strongly suggest a driveshaft loop. They are inexpensive and will save your butt if something goes wrong.

Re: Tire advice

I second the use of MT ET Radials...either in the 275 50 R15 or try a set of 255 50 R16s on 16x8 stockers. The M6 will probably like the taller sidewall of the 15s as stated above, but if you're on a budget they 255s will be good as well. Anything will be better than regular streets. I use the 255s on 16" stockers, but I'm an A4...
