Supras

This afternoon while waiting to get my hair cut, I was reading Sport compact car. The editors were going on and on about how bad *** this supra was..."ohhh beats hayabusas this, smokes vipers that", the damn thing had 911 rwhp and ran a best of 9.62 @ 149.99 :blah: mph and they declared it the fastest 6 speed supra in the WORLD...I guess what I'm getting at is don't supras kinda run slow 1/4 mile times for as much power as they have? I know 9.62 is damn fast and all and I know they can be bad *** from a roll on but come on....9.62 and you're the FASTEST IN THE WORLD?? Anyone know how much power Harlan's car (twin turbo 'hawk) has? I'd like to see Harlan drive down to Az and let the 'hawk **** all over that supra ...

Re: Supras

9.6 is quick, but then again, I know a guy around here with a C5, very built engine (I can't tell you everything about it), it's totally streetable (he drives it all summer) and it ran 10's on motor, 9's on spray (sorry I can't remember the #'s exactly...it's been since the summer you know) but trust me, I don't BS stuff, and this car is legit. Also, I heard "rumoured" what his rwhp #'s were, and I don't think they were anywhere near ~900 rwhp!? I thought I heard something like ~500 rwhp? (might have been before the shot of nitrous).

Supras just don't do it for me.....but then again, not much other than classic muscle cars, Camaros or 'Vettes do it for me!

Re: Supras

From what I understand there's automatic supras in the 8's(maybe faster , not really into the import scene)...Tanner has the fastest 6spd LT1 and he runs 9 somethings so Id say for a manual thats impressive.

Re: Supras

Whats the difference between a 300rwhp Supra and a 600rwhp Supra???

They both run 12s!!!!hahahaha
Supras are very hard to hook up. A friend of mine made 620rwhp on a single turbo Supra and ran 10.86@132mph on 17"Nitto drag radials. If you can get them to hook, they can be deadly. Now from a roll, I wouldn't even try.

Harlan has a 2speed powerglide, he ran 8.2 @ 166 and has gone 170.

Re: Supras

only info i have is that there's a forum for everyone now days, supraforums.com ...... hit that up and see what they know. a buddy of mine is rebuilding his motor (refreshing it i should say) its the 7MGTE single turbo 3.0 in his '87 and he's only upgraded the turbo, aftermarket intercooler, hardpipes, exhaust and he's looking for 400hp

what scares me about supras... independent rear suspension

Re: Supras

I'm no expert on any supra transmissions, but there's no way on god's green earth that a stock 6 speed out of a stock supra will hold 8's. maybe a stock trans type, with extremely built insides. thats still a hell of a number to post on an extremely built 6 spd.
