Street Tire Staging Burnout

I have Eagle F-1's on my 3rdGen. They're great road tires and fairly soft compound. Will doing a burnout prior to a run really heat them up enough to make a difference or am I just burning rubber?

With street tires, all you want to do is a quick 5 second burnout to clean them off. Doing a long burnout won't help you at all. These tires are not made to get real sticky with more heat. Don't expect great 60' times.

Do not go through the water box, do not do a "burnout". All they need is a dry hop to knock the pebbles and ***** of rubber off. Heating them up will probably release more of the oily tread compounds and lose traction.

Yeah, go around the water box and just do a quick rolling burnout. I barely get to five seconds, depending on ambient temp, when I burnout with my MT drag radials.

+1 Around the water box and a chirp.

IMO 5 seconds is a pretty long burnout.

Thanks for the input. I'll be home next week from the big sandbox. I'm having a chip burned this week to be waiting for me when I get home. Last time I ran (Jan 11) I had a 2.2 60' (13.7et) and went through the water. So, I'll try avoiding the water and no excessive burnout. Will let you know how it goes.

Yeah if you see smoke, you are heating them too much. TPI car should have no problem going 2.0 or faster 60ft. Have fun! Thanks for serving if that is why you over there.

Ya I'm the guy who delivers the steak, chicken & ice cream (MRAPS' Hummers, Bradleys) throught the "formerly" mined areas.

Thanks for the info.

I like your webpage , car looks great. I don't have a webpage but have a virtual garage w/ a video of my last run (I beat a truck! ) and a list of what's been done so far if you care to check it out at:
