Racing seats?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trying to decide on some drag seats, most list very similar width and height, Could some of you post pics of what you have and how they were mounted? I don't want something that has me with my head in the roof.

Dont wate your money on the POS plastic ones, you will regret it even though you dont spend much time in there if it's track only. I've piloted many cars with them, and would'nt give one to my worst enemy. Any gawd forbid if your a big person....you ain fitt'n right LOL. I'm 5'11" and 190, I have to empty my back pockets to get my **** in there.

Definately look into some Kirkley's, the sportsman series with the cloth cover. Plenty wide, padding is nice, and actually somewhat comfortable for a racing chair.

Corbeau Forza, mounted on their 4th Gen slider bracket, utilizing stock mounting studs. Available in a wider width. Very comfortable.

Hey Injuneer how much did that one seat set you back with the bracket? Weight savings over stock?

The stock non-power, cloth seat in my Formula was about 36#. The Forza weighs 15#, and the slider bracket weighs 10#, so the weight savings was 11# for a single seat. I'm going to eliminate the slider, using some aluminum brackets to increase the weight savings.

I got the seat at least 5 years ago on a group purchase and I think the seat was around $200 and the slider about $60 extra.

Use use Kirky aluminum laybacks. They mounted to the stock rails.

I would have to disagree (somewhat). I have the newer style Summit seats and they are not uncomfortable. I am 5'11 and 160lbs. so I can fit in them just fine. I have not been in one longer than 15 min. at a time so I can not speak for long trips. My buddy has the older style Summit seats in his 73' and they are pretty hard on your back.

8 Pt. cage with swing-outs is next. The wheel will be replaced with a Grant 3 spoke.
