Thumbs down Open for suggestions! Fire away.

Went to LACR last night, got 9 passes in. I'm not going to write them all down but here are a few.
1. 2. 3. 4.
60ft. 2.302 60ft. 2.372 60ft. 2.318 60FT. 2.120
I2. 6.117 I2. 6.205 I2. 6.304 I2. 6.062
I3. 9.260 I3. 9.371 I3. 9.529 I3. 9.269
MPH (I3) 78.467 MPH 76.798 MPH 75.200 MPH 76.411
I4. 11.906 I4. 12.035 I4. 12.211 I4. 11.958

ET. 14.298 E.T. 14.437 ET. 14.651 ET. 14.385
MPH 98.031 MPH 97.719 MPH 95.571 MPH 96.668

What does everyone think? I was hoping it be a little faster. I noticed my
60ft sucked. My launchs were horrible, I would spin for a couple feet,
I believe it might have been my fault. I keept 18lbs of air in the MT RD. Someone told me to drop it to 12LB what do you guys think. I don't know what I felt, maybe a cut out while it was in the higher rpm range. ok let you guys fire away.

are you at a very high altitude?

put your tires at 14psi or so, and do a nice smokey burnout. if the 60' still sucks there is something wrong.
i would think with your mods you should be trapping more like 80+ in the 1/8.

2710ft above sea level, I'm going back up tomorrow night, I'll try lowering the tire pressure down to 16 then to 14. Would 12 be to much?

With a converter and Mickey T's, you should be cutting sub-2.0 60' times . I've seen friends cut low 2.0's with stock LT1's on street tires, and I've cut below 2.0 (1.9's) with my LS1, stock stall, street tires . At the very least, I'd expect 2.0's, maybe 2.1's .

Are you not doing much of a burn-out before your run? I'd think that at almost any pressure, just because of the compound of those tires, that they would hook (considering you don't have ~500 rwhp or something crazy like that).

Your MPH doesn't look bad, esp. considering your elevation. But the times, to me, look like there's room for improvement.

My first and last run I did a semi burnout, those 2 were my best times. I tryed leaving at idle, that was my worst time at 14.8. So I know power brakeing to 2200-2400 was the way to go, no traction still. I tried the whole let the tires grab and floor it. For some reason I was running constant 14.6.
I'm going to lower the pressure to 14 and do a mean *** burn out. See how it goes.

Absolutely, those tires need to be heated!!!

Dude, it sounds (and judging by the #'s, looks) like you're launching on regular, "hockey puck" street tires . You're running a mildly modded LT1, so it's not like Earth shattering torque or power that would justify roasting off a pair of slicks! You need to get them hot BEFORE you try to run, not WHEN you try to run!!!

And something I found out when I slapped DR's onto my car ... my MPH slowed down by a little bit, I believe because the tires are literally "sticky", so I think they increase the rolling resistance of the car. What I might suggest is try running the tires with ~20 - 25 psi in them, but make sure you do a good burn-out first. Let the sticky compound do its job, but it'll help keep the tire more firm so it rolls easier once you're off the line ... otherwise too soft a tire (without the power to support it) will only slow you down.

If you were running street tires, I'd be telling you to either keep the burn-out to a minimum, or skip it altogether. But you do have Mickey Thompson ET Streets! Those tires had the (gripping) power to snap both U-joints of the driveshaft, bend the output shaft and crack the case of the transmission, and split the bellhousing all in one (attempted) launch with my Dad's '73 Camaro!! There is no excuse for you not hooking up with those tires!!!

run like 14-16 and drop it hard..... you probly need to make some passes and get good practice... you should run at minimum a 13.70...

i ran 13.6 bone stock on bfg dr's but you have to burn em up good for em to stick. and leave hard and never lift

At this time of year it would not be surprising to gain up to half-a-second by bringing the car to sea level. I've picked up as much as .6 between LACR and Pomona. That track has issues that are far greater than the altitude might suggest.

Good luck.
