New stockhead best!

From the beginning my car is a street car with a/c,power steering, power brakes not a stock eliminater car. With DOT tires all the way around. It weighs 3420 with me in it. It has stockheads, and stockbottomend and NA , No spray no blower. Tonight in good air in South Louisiana I ran a best of 11.53 at 115.53 with a 1.51 60ft. That was a best for me. Frank95z

If you would check www.thunderracing.com customers cars my name is Frank Benoit there you will find a list of mods. I will say that it appears that you and I have similiar cars except you have ported heads. Yes I have a 110# mild steel rollbar. I run at a sealevel track and ran my new best in these conditions 45 degrees,56% humidity and 30.37 baro for a DA of -1330. Your 60 ft seems to be were your problem is. I ran a 1.51 shorttime tonight. I have a Vig3200. My suspension is stock also but converter hits right below peak torque on my car. Good Luck Frank95z

Thumbs up Thanks Frank!

My best 60 was a 1.67, but I did not get my best E.T. out of that.

I bet I could use a restall on my vig up to 3200. Just gotta deal with the OBD1 issue. It has hit me twice this year.

I think a good dyno tune would help too. I have Bryans tune from PCMforless. No complaints on that tune. Very good for a mail order tune.

If you can get the dyno tune first to determine where you're making peak torque. With the larger cam and ported heads you may need more than a 3200 to get to where you're making the most torque. Just an idea. Frank95z

Wow, congrats Frank. I can't think of a more impressive lt1. What kind of power are you making with that cam? I dynoed my heads/cam combo and with my newly restalled 3200 vig, made 416 rwtq at 3500 rpms.Unfortunately I have several bad valvesprings so my rwhp is down by 26 horses to 320. I too thought a heads/cam car would make peak torque around 4k but mine wasn't even close. A 1.51 is excellent for such a small converter. What tire are you using? What gears? What have you taken out of the car to get it that light? Mine without front swaybar, passenger seat, and with skinnies still weighs in at 3460 without me. Once again,

My car is a hardtop, standard radio, cloth seat Z28. I have no front or rear swaybars,no rear seats, last night I had no passenger seat. I run two header mufflers for exhaust But I do have stock carpet with padding removed, all panels, console are in place. I still have a/c,power steering, abs power brakes, airbags and bumper supports. Added weight is a Strange 12bolt and mild steel 110# rollbar. For some reason my car has always been a freak about weight. It was a GM program car in 1995 titled to General Motors, Detriot,Michigan. I run 3.73 gears and 27X11.5X15 Hossier QTP's on Convo pro wheels. Fronts are Centerline Warriors with MT street fronts. Car still gets 25mpg on highway and was driven to work everyday from 1995 til March of this year. Now its a weekend car mostly. I still like the looks when I pull up to the traffic light with rolbar and 5 point harness Car has never been dynoed I don't want to find out that I only make 280hp and the car to slow down to 13's Good Luck Frank95z

Congrats Frank....

I finally got tired of messing around and just installed a yank 3200 and a 'good' program. Now I have to wait for the spring thaw to find out what it runs. Oh, and it's still the daily commuter.

Thanks guys I work on a lot of little things on my car and they add up. I'm really running tires that are to tall right now I'm running 27x11.5x15's with a 3.73 gear. I am not going to do it right now but I'm planning on a weight reduction program to lighten the car 120#'s and a tire x gear change. I think I can run high 11.30's. I predicted 11.40's or 50's this year and reached it. Anybody want to bet on 30's. Frank95z
