New Stockhead LT1 best

First this is a street car not to be confused with a stock eliminater car . It has DOT tires, power steering, power brakes, and with exhaust hooked up can be run down the highway. It has stockheads and bottomend NA with the regular boltons. I run a Crane210/224 cam and car weighed 3350 tonight. Now that said tonight I ran 11.42 116.56 with a 1.49 shortime. Not to shabby for a old technology LT1. Frank95z

That is bad *** Frank. I guess you have to have the fastest cammed only LT1 out there. Keep getting faster buddy.

Frank
We have a couple other cars.I ended up working out of town all fall and was never able to perfect the stock head car 60 foot times like I wanted too.

Since that car allready has the molly cage 9 inch and antirollbar,I am going to gut it and use it for a heads up car this year.I got a little discoruged with some setbacks I had with the project and almost sold the whole lot.But I am glad I did not.

Good luck on the heads up car and don't get the litte lady mad and mess with her carr Steve thanks for the offer of using your 10bolt to lose some weight. But i'm in bracket mode from now till the fall. I have a couple of changes in mind but hope to run 11.20's or teens with stockheads in the fall. Frank95z

Way to go Frank! Gotta love the old LT1's . Your going to make it real tough for me to catch ya... but this year I will be out to try.

Ive been out of the loop for a while, but I'll be back at it again real soon.

Great Job

Hats off to you Frank. I have seen your progression to this point over the last year. I am also a stock head car. I only have a cam w/ bolt on.
My only bitch is that I HATE NORTHERN ALTITUDE AND WEATHER NOW.

I is -13* here. No track is hooking. Also I ran a best of 11.802 @ 112.75 with a 1.554 60'. That was at 2700 feet and 50* about 28.65 baro. It is nothing to be mad about. I know my car has much more in it but the racing season was over for me in October. I really wanted to come to the thunder shootout for your great altitude and weather. I think the car would have ran in the 11.50's. Next year the heads are getting done and I we be looking for high 10's with a stock bottom end. Good luck in the future Frank.

Again great job.

Ken.

Thanks Ken I'm a bracket racer first and try to run fast only 4 or 5 times a year. I run tires that are both too tall and too wide to be real fast. I run 3.73 gears and 27x11.5x15 Qtps. Car is lazy in high gear. With 4.11's and 26x10x15 Et drags i know it would pick up some. Also I'm running a baby cam and converter. Before the end of the year i hope to remove about 100#s and borrow the right size tires and see if i can run some 20's. Till then its bracket time. Frank95z

Congrats Frank!

But how, how is it that I with the same cam and mild heads + bigger valves am only running 13.20's at 104.5-104.9 ??? =(

Man I only pulled 303 rwhp, (although a C5 vette later pulled 279 whp on this same dyno afterwards)

wth!

Should I up the gear and stall? I'm only running a 3.42 and an SLP 2200 stall TC. I'm also only running 1.6 roller tip rockers and RK Sport 1 3/4" shorty headers.

Man, I need some guidance here, perhaps you can help me at least reach 12 second land with this car w/out having to swap cams.. I love this cam, it's mild and very very streetable.

Gandz I guess to pick up your combo i'd suggest a little at a time add 3200 Vig,3.73 gears, cutout, sticky tires and see where you're at. Worked heads may be hurting you. 210/224 is a mild cam and works well with stockheads. Good Luck Frank95z

I see where you are coming from. Hmm. So the cam's mild manners fully use the potential of the stock heads, but by increasing flow I've essentially ruined the cam's potential to make power. That seems awkward at first, but makes sense.

I think I will go with a 2800 Vigi then, and the 3.73 gears. I already have a cutout. I haven't seen anything better than a 1.98 60 ft, even though I have a set of Hoosier TQP's that I must learn how to launch with. I'm sure with a 1.7 I could run 12's as is. That is all I want.
