Question Launching in 2nd gear

I did a search on this and none really addressed this. When I go on the track with my A4 Z, I torque brake at 1000RPMs and put my car in 3rd gear and leave it there. I was wondering if I launch in 2nd gear keep it till I redline at 80mph then up-shift to 3rd will that help reduce my 1/4 trap time? Also, will running my car in 2nd to redline at 80mph do anything to my stock tranny? Have any of you A4 guys tried this?

I just leave it in D. If I try to shift my car, it hits the rev limiter. If I leave it in D, my car shifts at the right point.

Keep it in "D". Life is much simplier that way. Trannys are expensive to fix. Save up for some headers, drag radials, and a torque converter. In the meantime just have fun racing.
