Heating up ET streets

Those of you with M6's and 4.10 gears. Do you use 1st or 2nd gear to heat them up? How long of a burn out do you do?

A higher gear should be used since you want tire speed to heat them up. You're not trying to spin a dry tire because you've just gone through a water box. Once the tire is wet it spins easier. A wet tire in a burnout will heat up the tire better and won't wear off rubber as quickly as trying to spin a dry tire.

Do the burnout in second gear. If you can, do it in third.

I use a powerglide tranny. I start in first and as soon as my rpms come up I shift to high and hold it around 5000 rpm. I'd guess and say the tires are spinning at about 90-100 mph during my burnout.

With 4.10's you can probably even start your burnout in 2nd, just don't slip the clutch too much. If you have to, start in first and shift to second. A line lock really helps.
