Downloaded a bin from Fbodytech.com for a street rod with a 95 Lt1 driveline.

Using an OTC Nemysis datastream the cars temp is approaching 190 F and the fan is not triggered. A10 and A11 OFF

Studying the bin the trigger temps they are 95 degrees C (203 F) low speed and 104.75 C (220 F) high speed.

Are these temps correct?

Stock fans turn on temps are: 226F (low speed), and 235F (high speed).

 

I'm a little north of New York ... (Nova Scotia, Canada) .. very similar temps to NY.. I like 180deg thermostat and 195/205 for fan settings. (not worried about smog testing).
If you have AC, the AC should trigger the secondary fan when on regardless of temp I do believe.

 

I live about 800 yards from Canada!

Have the 95 Camaro LT1 driveline in a 37 Chevy sedan so smog isn't a concern. Which thermostat is stock for this LT1? Would like to try the 195/205 range.

No A/C...but thinking about a manual over ride for the fan (my next question).

Stock t'stat is 180*F. Most popular replacement is 160*. Fan temps could be set in the 185/195 range. Couple that with a couple degrees more ignition advance, for a HP gain.

Shoebox has a diagram for wiring a manual fan switch.

OK..built the manual over ride switch with LEDs (ShoeBox diagram). Work great, click left, left LED on and low speed fan, click to the right, fan speeds 1&2 and both LEDs are on.

Looking at the diagram it appears that the LEDs will activate as the PCM supplies signal grounds even with manual switch off (in center position) which is OK with me.

Will this combination affect any DTC's?

Yes, the LEDs will act like tell-tale lights when the switch is not in use (I actually have them on my car, but with no switch). If wired like the diagram, PCM operation of the fans is not affected.

 

Are the DTC's only a problem with OBD-II PCM's?

 

I has one code for fan relay control circuits and II has two codes (one for relay 1 and one for relays 2 and 3).
