Fastest N/A LT1 with stock PCM
Fastest N/A LT1 with stock PCM
We are just finishing our camaro project car and are hoping to run some mid-low 10's n/a. We are using the stock PCM and I am curious as to how fast you stock PCM guys are going. FAST is out of the budget at this point but is still in consideration. General combo specs are:
396cid
AFR 220's ported
Solid Roller 269/280 duration 670/670 lift at .050, 114lsa
TH400
3300lb race weight
42.5lb injectors, full Aeromotive fuel system
Car will probably get to the track in the next 6-8 weeks.
Thanks for any info on fast stock PCM N/A LT1's.

i'm runnin 10.8's with stock pcm, still a little in the comp and a lot in suspension, still spinning a little... I haven't ran into any problems withthe stock pcm, just i don't have a dyno close so i can get dyno time...
I have gone 10.9s at 126 with a 355/6 speed/ ported stock heads and I know a guy down here(louisiana) going 10.4s at 130 in an automatic with a 396/afr heads. No problems with the stock pcm at this point. I know we coudl both be faster with a fast system..but like you say..big bucks.

i still drive mine on the street, but it has a lot of suspension noise.. Other than that a little cam surge is about all i get.. if i wanted to take the time i could get the cam surge out of it..
yeah that is my goal for my car. to have a daily driven car that can trap 130 mph and still have a top speed of over 170. hopefully i can make that happend and still stay N/A. becasue as i read more and more about the F/I guys. it seems like they have nothing but problems.(or maybe it just seems that way to me)
I'm pretty sure Jordon's old motor would top out at 170+. He was running 130 traps N/A in a 3600 lb car, with autocross suspension and it was his ONLY car at the time. I agrre that FI can be a major headache, but it is the easiest way with the least number of compromises to get where you want to go. I am a motor person myself, might just be me, but I think most F/I cars rev too slow. Not sure how to describe it, but they just don't FEEL right. Good luck with it!

so what would be more reliable and better for a daily driven car. F/I or N/A. to reach my power goals. i dont wont to go any faster that the speeds mentioned earlier. but i wont to be able to drive this car daily. and it be reliable too and dependable if that is even possible. so many decisions and so many options. but i know that once i make up my mind. and start buying parts i am going to have to see it through to the end. and oh by the way my idea of daily driven is a car that can handle stop and go traffic. keep the A/C. start and drive at least 150 miles daily. thanks for all the help guys. i am really learning a lot here
