ET Vs MPH

I have been reading through the tech section looking at everyone’s times and I think there is something odd with my 1/4 MPH. It was at Lapeer dragway in Michigan. It is ~ 1000' and it was around 70 degrees that day, however my runs were between rain showers. I would get a bit sideways during the 1-2 shift. I know that if you do not get traction that your ET goes down and your MPH goes up, but does this MPH seem right for these mods?

1995 A4 50,000 miles
shorty headers,CAI, Airfoil, No cat, Borla wide open, !TB
Magnecor wires w/ new plugs, new O2's, eaton posi with 3.73

I have not been to the dyno and from what I have seen this MPH would mean somewhere around 310 RWHP, which I don't think I am close to. Does this MPH seem wrong? Or are folks seeing this time with 2.1 60' with similar mods.

13.5-13.6 and 107.5-108.2 4 runs...

Given the fact that you have an auto trans, your MPH tells me that your are having real traction problems leaving the line. Try some stickier tires or get a higher stall converter and you'll be in the mid 12's with that trap speed.

Your mph does not add up with your mods or with you ET's. Your 60' times are pretty good. I would say that the track is messing up on the mph's. looks like your running 13.5-13.6@103-104. Btw spinning isn't going to make your mph go up.

The theory of spinning makes your mph go up isnt always true. If I spin out of the hole, my MPH is always LOW. With a 1.9-2.0 my car will trap in the 109-110 range. If I dead hook it it goes faster. with a low 1.6 60' it will generally turn 112-113. From what I can tell if I spin it shifts sooner... distance wise on the track. Hook it and it will shift farther down the track. Just my theory here but that rule is not always true.

For you, turning 108 and a 2.1 60'.. the ET's seem about right to me. With a good 60' in the 1.8x range you should be able to turn 12.7-12.8's with a similar MPH. And for the record a 2.1 60' is what I call "ok". It could be alot better.

No, Lapeer is nortious for reporting MPH 3-4 MPH high, take your car to either Ubly or Milan and see what the times come out to be.

Grover, that is what I kind of figured. I think my time might drop .2-.3 with some slicks but the MPH never did add up with other members with similar mods. Thanks guys!

Of course then lapper might time me at 140, lol!

Yeah, Lapeer is high by about 3MPH for some reason.
