i've got an automatic v6 3.8L camaro that ran 15.753 for my quickest 1/4 mile time. all i have is a cai and flowmaster muffler. is there any way to make my time faster w/o any major modifications?

Re: any quicker?

Depends what you mean by "major", gears and a torque converter would shave about .5 seconds though.

Re: any quicker?

well i'm heading off to college in the fall and my dad is going to buy me an 2002 z28 for college. i plan on going all out on this car like engine rebuild and turbo and all that stuff. i just didn't want to waste any more of my money into the 3.8l car now except to just keep it on the road. btw, at the track last night, i couldn't get the automatic transmission to shift at redline....is that just how they are built? i think the highest i got it was 4,300 rpms.

Realistically, weight reduction is inexpensive but labor intensive and the gains will most likely be small. I would tend to focus on learning about bracket racing and being consistent so you can have a competitve event that you can do your entire life regardless of what vehicle you have.

If you can find a set of headers for it you will gain in gas mileage as well as performance but beyond that I would probably leave it alone as it is probably a good dependable car.

It looks like you already got the basic and cheaper mods. covered. As already mentioned, if you want to get any faster, you will have to start spending some money. Probably the cheapest bang for the buck power adder would be a nitrous setup, but frankly, if you are getting a LS1 pretty soon, what would be the point. Might as well keep that car as a reliable daily driver and then spend your money modding the new car.
