I have tunercat and the ecm file to go with it. I am trying to program a 95z with m6 and obd1 computer to produce the most hp as possible on a fairly stock engine. What are some of the basic setting that I need to change in order to acheve the max hp. (ie leaning out the gas and such)?
The first thing to do is go buy a 160 LT1 thermostat and pop it in. It takes all of about 20 mins to do. This will allow alittle more timing to be added before knock. Then go download DataMaster and log a good 30 min run and save it. Back up your orginal PCM file and then load it into Tunercat and then start adding timing and taking out fuel (very vague, I know). Upload new changes and log another run with Datamaster and look for Knock. If you send me your stock file I can make some changes and email it back to you. Then you can compare it to stock in Tunercat to see what most people change.

i dont know anything about this subject. except that you can get custom chips burned at places that have dynos.
so you can edit the ecu in the car adjusting the air fuel programs to get more performance than an off the shelf chip.
but without a dyno how to you test if it worked?
could i get a junkyard ecu and swap the chips, like have 1 stock and 1 to play with? that may be fun

There is a wealth of information regarding this that has been discussed in this forum previously.
Not trying to discourage you, just make sure that you are aware of all the resources that this site provides.
On a stock car, don't expect much. Do a search and you'll see a couple of my posts that deal with ECM constants and idle...should be a great place to start. Remember, start small and work your way up.
