Turning off the IAC in the PCM
Turning off the IAC in the PCM
Hope this doesn't sound silly, but here goes anyway. My intake manifold was originally ported for a monoblade tb by the guy I bought it from. I have a Holley 58 that I don't want to part with. The opening that leads to the IAC circuits in the intake is gone so it's not connected to the IAC motor.
Basically I'm want to make a plate to go between the IAC and the TB and effectively seal it off. What I'm wondering is how do I make it so the stock PCM won't try to adjust the idle with the IAC.
Right now the IAC counts are at 160 but the car idles with the blades cracked and the TPS adjusted to .55 volts give or take.

Re: Turning off the IAC in the PCM
You don't have problems coming to a stop or when you turn the ac on? If my IAC isn't within spec, the car does all kinds of wierd things with the idle. I'm sure that you could ultimately just unplug the sensor. Maybe zero out the idle tables and IAC follower table? I'm not sure as I've never done this before.
Re: Turning off the IAC in the PCM
No, it idles just fine (vids in sig), I'm trying to figure out a bad tip in problem and I think the IAC is the culprit. Also, I have only driven it like 3 times since I got it back and the rest of the time I've been trying to fix little problems here and there. The AC should be fixed sometime this weekend. Good thing too, these Florida summers are killer.

Re: Turning off the IAC in the PCM
I thought I sent you the 224/236 tune for the old motor that's in your car now. I haven't sent the tune that's in the car to anyone as of yet.
I'm thinking the computer is having trouble transitioning from idle to part throttle. It's trying to dial back the IAC and that doesn't provide the change it's looking for so it seems to be freaking out. Once it's moving it's ok except for a slight cam surge that hasn't been tuned out yet. Also, as I stated, the intake is ported for a monoblade with no IAC and there's not really much I can do to fix it. The car idles with the blades cracked slightly and the TPS has been slotted to get to .55 volts. I'm going to install the plate I made this weekend and see what happens.

Re: Turning off the IAC in the PCM
It's going to fine while it's moving because it doesn't really use the IAC. It's the stopping and idling that is going to be the problem. My buddy was checking his IAC the other day. He got it set at idle and unplugged it. We then turned the AC on and it died. If there is no way for the it to compensate, then I don't see how you won't have similar results. Do monoblades have built in IAC motors? How do they deal with this issue?
Re: Turning off the IAC in the PCM
I'm not worried about the AC, if anything, I can set the idle to 1100 with the throttle blades and forget about it. I'm more concerned with how the computer will react to the IAC tables being zeroed out.
