tunning question
im new at tunning and im trying to help a friend tune his 383 trans am so my first ? is at this web page on tunning the obd1 computer http://members.nuvox.net/~on.roz/cars/z28/tuning.html it says i should begin by adding 2 degrees of spark across the two tables, wich tables are they talking about?? oh ya i use tuner cat

you need to know how big the cam is to kinda get and idea of the the spark advance the bigger the cam is the mor it will need then you need to set the idle spark advace. a good space to start is about 28.
spark advance depends alot on compresion ratio and the cam, so design cam designs require alot more timing.
read alot before you get started
and remember if you do like he said and start with timing, when you go to messing with the fuel ratio the leaner you go more close you will get to knock.
for EX. if you set the spark adv at 35 and the a/f ratio is 12.0to 1 then you start leaning it out you may get knock when you get to about 12.5 it may start knocking. but that doesnt mean youve reached the best performace you may try pulling 2 degrees and put the a/f ratio at 12.9 and see what you get if no knock raise timing up one degree at a time till you get knock.

so i want to have the max timing advance that alows 12.9 air fuel ratio without knock? how do i pull out fuel to lean it out? ill post his set up when i talk to him i know he has 11;1 compression with mildly ported lt1 heads and his cam is similar to a 306
