is there a way to by pass the knock sensor on a 93
There's a way to put a resistor in the circuit, either to 'desensitize' it, or to eliminate it. The desensitization circuit is a bit more involved than simply putting a resistor in series with the sensor. But to eliminate the sensor, simply bypass the sensor by connecting the single harness wire to one end of a 4,500 ohm resistor, and ground the other end of the resistor.

Which one... the desensitize ciruit, or replacing the sensor with a resistor? I don't have the desen circuit, but you can find it with a "search". To replace the sensor with a resistor, you pull the single dark blue wire off the knock sensor (passenger side, bottom of the block, just behind the motor mount). Attach the dark blue wire to one end of the 4,500 ohm resistor, and wire the other end of the resistor to a ground. You just leave the knock sensor in the block, with no wire attached to it.
