Taking out battery mess up computer??

Taking out battery mess up computer??

When i put my car away for the winter, i was planning on taking the battery out, until i heard that if you take it out for awhile it will mess up the computer in my car. Is this true?? Thanks

I can't see how that would be true. I had my battery unplugged form my PCM for like 4 months straight and it definitely didn't ruin my PCM. If you unplug your home PC for 6 months will that ruin it? No...same thing just the PCM is in your car.

At the very least b/c you are taking way the power source. the iac will have to relearn the idle and and your fuel trims will have to relearn your driving style. Nothing seriose(sp).

How long do you need it disconnected for it to re-learn everything?
