Setting fan on/off points in TunerCat
Setting fan on/off points in TunerCat
The car in my sig currently is running the original PCM. I recently bought TunerCat and the $EE definition file. I also bought a cable for my car from AKM Cables. I don't have an OBDI PCM yet, but in the meantime I am trying to familiarize myself with TunerCat. I want to create a calibration file that comes close to what I am using now to start with when I get my OBDI PCM. To that end I downloaded several calibration files and began playing around with them in Tunercat.
I figured the first thing I would do was work on the fan on/off points so I would have them turning on early to complement my 160* thermostat.
Right away I began having trouble, While looking in the 'ECM Constants' section I could not find some of the tables that are described in the sticky by Dan K, at the top of this page, or in the help file for the ECM definition file in TunerCats.
Here is the list of all the tables listed in my 'ECM Constants' section. I would appreciate it greatly if someone could take a look at this list and let me know if it looks like yours or if I have some tables missing, especially in the fan on/off category.

Well, the constants for changing the fans on/off temperature are
Fan 1 On Threshold (Low MPH)
Fan 1 On Threshold (High MPH)
Fan 2 On Threshold (Low MPH)
Fan 2 On Threshold (High MPH)
These should be between constant EGR Enable Colant Temp (Low Startup Mat) and Fan Hysteresis Low Speed (MPH), numbers 10 and 11 on your list. I'm not sure why they aren't there, though, perhaps you should try emailing Tunercat.
Perhaps you ended up with a corrupt $EE definition file and that is why they are missing? It's the only thing I can think of off the top of my head.

That sticky needs to be updater tunercat has a new EE definition file that moves the fan turn on points from the constants table to their own table, I believe it is the "Fan enable coolant temp Vs. Speed" table that contains what you are looking for.
Ah, that would probably explain it then. I still have the older def file I guess. Time to get those updates on my tuner laptop.
Thank you all for your input, I did email TC with this question and received this answer:
Sorry for the confusion. The Fan on/off points were recently moved to a table called 'Fan Enable Coolant Temp Vs. Speed' located in the tables section. This was done to free up some space to add some new constants. The help file hasn't been updated yet.
Best regards,
TC
It would be great if the sticky could be updated to reflect this change.
