could i use a ls1 scanmaster on my 97 Z? i know the lt1 scanmasters wont pull codes cause its for obd1, but the ls1 is for the obd2 so i was wondering if i could use it on my car. it also only plugs in and doesnt have to be wired. any help would be great, thanx.

Re: scanmaster ?

I don't think you can clear codes on any car with it but it does have some Preprogrammed trouble codes that it can read from your PCM but it does not read all PCM codes.

Re: scanmaster ?

The manual says to splice the wires but I soldered pins on the wire and just plugged it into the ALDL this way I can just pull the wires out when I need to check codes.

It will read ALL PCM codes on 94/95 models. It will not read any OBD-II (96/97) trouble codes. It can not clear codes on any year. All other functions will work on 94-97 models.

Some help with what it can and can't do, installing it, interpreting the data, etc.:
