Quad Drivers?

K heres the deal, I got one of those actron code scanners from autozone, ya know you buy the seperate cable and cartridge for your make of car. Well i've always thought it was just an expensive code reader, but this past weekend, we found it will watch all kinds of sensor readings etc. So i hooked it back to my car after replacing the 24x crankshaft sensor, says the 24x signal is still bad, but the car is a completely different car now with the new sensor. Different sound, runs smoother, etc. Onto the point. I was looking through the parameters, and found 4 things that made me wonder. My car has chronically had EGR 2&3 malfunctions, inspite of replacing the valve and silver conduit looking tube. Going through this data stream, i found something that said quad drivers. Here's exactly how the screen read.
QUAD DRIVER 1-----BAD
QUAD DRIVER 2-----BAD
QUAD DRIVER 3----- OK
QUAD DRIVER 4-----BAD

I had no idea what this was talkin about, i thought maybe it was talking bout the headlights lol. But i looked the term up in the Actron manual, and said something along the lines that these are in the computer and are what controls a number of solenoids and switches on the engine. I'm wondering if this is causing my 3 codes EGR 2 and 3 malfun. and loss of 24 x crank sensor signal. I'm betting there isn't a way to fix this either. Anyone got any opinions? Thanks

Can we assume you scanned the 94 V6?

If so, what were the specific codes? The "quad driver" module was used in the 3rd Gen ECM's, and in the 1993 4th Gen ECM to control the high current loads like solenoids, etc, that couldn't be driven directly by the ECM. But I have the 93-95 V6's in my Chilton's and it doesn't list any "quad driver" related codes. Perhaps the problem is the list that came with the Actron.... often they are manufacturer "generic" rather than year/model specific.

Yes this is on the 94 v6. I kinda assumed that the actron was the "radio shack" version anyways. my specific codes, i'm thinking my 24x code is a 36? and my egr codes are in the 70's they're fairly common i've heard for this engine. The egr consists of 3 fairly large solenoids, so what you said about the QD's doing the heavy solenoid work, may hold true to this egr thing. Oh and the Egr valve and crankposition sensor are brand new. Allinthered on the v6 specific board had mentioned he cleaned the silver conduit looking pipe that goes from the egr to the intake manifold and that solved his problem, but it hasn't workd for me.
