programming for a m6
programming for a m6
so, i got this tune from a board member. great tune, i really like it, except my tranny doesn't like it. all i have is 1st and 4th and reverse.
so what is causing this? i'm using tunercat, does an m6 read any of the shifting tables? CARS is diabled, i just can't figure out what is causing this, my buddy emailed me some tunes and it shifts fine now, but it doesn't run as well as the other program did.
help me figure out how to fix that tune!
thanks,
mike

Re: programming for a m6
If you go in the table were you can change the gearing you should also be able to change which tranny you have in the car. I belive if a4 is selected then you'll also get the problem your having.
Re: programming for a m6
Tell your buddy to switch over the relevant tables like anything to do with spark, PE and VE to that file you can shift with and that should fix you up.
The problem is an A4 vs M6 file and to my knowledge you cant alter them to work for the alternate tranny. You just have to get a good file for your tranny and then move over the tables I said above. 99% of the time those are the only tables that are manipulated.

Re: programming for a m6
The problem is your skip shift is locked, and using an a4 program in a M6 will do this(done it before also)
They are correct you need an M6 program and change the tables over to the new one.
If ya need a stock M6 for a 94 let me know, I'll email ya one.
also have some modded M6 files.

Re: programming for a m6
sorry didn't read it all the way,
in tuner cats load the good tune(that didn't shift)
the click file-compare file
Open a table(doesn't matter which one) then turn on the compare(far right button)
then close table, go to File,Print all to file.
Print it out,
close both and open the current file you are using.
Look at the print out and make the changes per the file.
Forget all the auto table stuff, but any other changes
make.
Or zip both files, label one good.bin and the other bad.bin(where bad is the current one you use) zip it and send to pcm@buildaracecar.com
and I'll move the tables for ya.

Re: programming for a m6
All you have to do is open the M6 file and then right-click on the tables you need to change. Once you right-click, you are gonna need to select import table.. last step is just a matter of finding the A4 file you started with and clicking select. Repeat for the rest of the tables.
Re: programming for a m6
sweet! i couldn't figure out how to transfer tables! i'll try copying the trans tables and see if that fixes it.
yes i did change it from auto to manual in the speed cal. file.
