profile swaps in lt1 edit
profile swaps in lt1 edit
I am curious as to how reliable swapping .lt1 profiles are. For example if I install cam, upgrade the intake, and install bigger injectors and get a profile from someone with close or identical mods will it work well? If so where is a good source for getting profiles. I would assume some tuning shops would have a database built and could just email them for a small price. What do you think?

You should get a tune from either one of these guys:
www.pcmforless.com or www.madz28.com
Simply tell them what you have and they will email you a tune to upload.

It's not that simple. Every car can be different. You really need to drive the car with a scanner hooked up to see what your sensor readouts are. If you're looking for maximum performance fueling, you'll have to utilize a wide band O2 sensor and see what your A/F ratio is at Wide Open Throttle(WOT).
As for timing, the stock tables are fairly aggressive. You can bump them up a degree, load the flash file, ,then scan the cars PCM for knock count increases. It's potentially dangerous to load someone elses flash file and assume you're good. They may have implemented too much timing/fueling or zero'd out your knock retard tables (you may need them in place in case you're running more compression, running cheaper gas, etc) which could cause engine damage. I've had LT1 edit since version 1.3 (bought it in the year 2000).
If you're using LT1 edit, here's a good tutorial about the parameters and their meanings...
