PCMFORLESS questions

I'm thinking of ditching this crappy hypertech PPIII and going with the PCMFORLESS tuning.

However, i don't have a laptop, so this is my first ghetto question.

I have a computer in my house that is probably close enough to my car that i could ue a long enough extension wire to plug it in from there. I am also a very experienced solderer and could extend the wire myself. Does anyone know what type of wire the cable uses? If its like a standard 10 gauge wire i would have no problem extending the cable.

I plan on buying the three options, (the programming, the cable, and the updates) for my car. Is this a worth while programming setup? Anyone who can contribue more info or has an opinion they can share i would greatly appreciate it.

Go to pcmforless.com. They guy says he does custom work so maybe he can just make the cable. By cutting soldering yourself you may be doing a $10 job by him, but it takes you all weekend to do all the wires.

Well, i work in a full scale hobby shop and it really wouldnt be anything difficult for me to do either. I'm just unfamiliar with the setup. So if u know the type of wiring or the way the cable is set up i'd appreciate the info.

Another question, when u pay the $25 for the "additional updates", can u request specific updates for when u add different parts, ie cams, heads, injectors?

Thanx again

Thanx again for all the great help and info guys

One more quick ?. When u buy the PCMFORLESS software, do they e-mail u the software? or do they actually send u a hard copy on a CD so that u can install it on any computer? If they send the software, I might just invest in a cheap and crappy laptop just for the purpose of installing the tuning.

Would it be possible to take your desk top out to the garage. The cable I got from andrew is quite long.

well, its would be possible to take the comp out to the garage, but its not something i want to have to do often. How often do updates get sent? how bout if i need tuning for something specific? is the software mailed on a CD?

Also, I have Neo Handspring Palm pilot. Anyone make a program that i can get that i can upload with the Palm?

That was a great link.

I'm having a hard time finding ODB-I stuff though, most of it is ODB-II for the PDA.

Anyone know who makes OBD-I stuff on a PDA?
